BLOCKER is a unique reagent developed at Micro Detect, Inc. It is used for blocking and protecting proteins against denaturation during manufacturing and storage. After coating the solid phase with antigen or antibody, BLOCKER is used to block the unbound or free sites on the solid phase. It also protects immobilized or adsorbed proteins against denaturation caused by physical factors such as drying and high temperatures. BLOCKER preserves the activity of coated antibody or antigen, enhances protein stability, and does not interfere with antigen - antibody reactions. The components in BLOCKER block the non-specific sites and simultaneously protect the coated protein. Several specific features of BLOCKER include:

• Foam formation is minimal.
• Low viscosity ensures ease of use in automated dispensers.
• Visual confirmation of the presence of BLOCKER is made easy by the inclusion of an inert dye material. For specific applications BLOCKER can be supplied colorless.
• Contains a specific preservative, which prevents the growth of molds and bacteria on the surface of coated wells. For specific applications, BLOCKER can be provided without preservative.
• Stable at elevated temperatures.
• The price is less than for competitive products.
• For some applications, BLOCKER may be diluted 1:1 in distilled water. The use of BLOCKER in diluted form must be validated.
